The brief
Our client, Market Square, Geelong requested a retail activation to tie in with one of Melbourne’s most exciting sporting events – the Australian Open Tennis.
The activation needed to:
- be highly interactive
- be suitable for both for kids and adults
- have a tennis theme
What did we deliver?
We created Market Square Lawn Tennis Club – Pop up Clubhouse, a multi-zone activation to cater for a whole range of age groups.
We built two gorgeous bespoke mini-enclosed tennis courts, giving kids the chance to let their inner Federer or Williams loose. Staffed by two qualified tennis coaches, kids were offered tips on how to perfect their backhand or forehand.
Parents relaxed in the second adjacent area – our summery pop-up clubhouse. Fully stocked with jugs of refreshing iced tea flavours from one of the centre’s retailers, both parents (and kids in between hits!) enjoyed a glass or two as they lounged in comfy chairs or bean bags.
The final component of our Lawn Tennis Club Pop-Up Clubhouse was our photo backdrop area, stocked with lots of tennis props to provide our young tennis stars with plenty of photo ops.

What did it achieve?
Due to the multiple layers of this activation, there was literally something for everyone; young or old. Older kids got into the competitive spirit of the game, while the younger ones were free to run around and play with balls or other tennis props. All the while, parents could sit back and relax with a beverage and watch their kids play in the safe space (although many opted to join in the fun too which produced some great social-media-sharing moments!).
